Born over seven decades ago, the 550 Spyder acronym remains synonymous
to speed, freedom and rebelliousness – the latter adjective thanks to the
American star James Dean. With an enviable record on the competition tracks,
the model weighed only 550 kg in a recipe that combined a central engine,
tubular chassis and an extremely light body. Not by chance, the same formula is
used in the construction of the recreation signed by Chamonix. Manufactured in
Brazil for more than 30 years and exported to several countries, the Chamonix
Spyder 550 was chosen by the German magazine Auto Motor and Sport as the
best recreation of the sports classic, in a test commanded by none other than
the former world champion of F-1 Phil Hill. The model received several
accolades for its construction and dynamic behavior. In addition, we passed in
the rigorous chassis torsion tests carried out by T.Ü.V of Germany, which is
considered to be capable of receiving engines of up to 250 hp. For all these
reasons, it is no exaggeration to say that the Chamonix 550 Spyder preserves
the same voracious appetite for speed as the model it was inspired by.
